Double Denim Trouble: Photo Diary with Laudi Vidni

Hey Merbabes!  I was going to apologize for being MIA last week but I'm not going to.  It is super important to me to only offer you, my merbabe, the best content I can. If I don't have anything meaningful or inspiring to share I won't share it, to me that means, well-written, thoughtful, and purposeful. It's like when your mother told you "If you don't have anything nice to say don't say it".  I would hate for you to come to Mermaid Waves and leave feeling like you just wasted ten or even two minutes of you life.  Whether its as simple as a new way to rock your favorite jeans, or as complex as solving Instagram's new algorithm, I say complex v lightly, I only want to serve up the best of the best.  Because I am seriously tired of click-bait article after click-bait article screwing up my feed, if I see one of article titled "You won't recognize Kylie with her new hairstyle" I may explode, I will still recognize Kylie, we all will.

Anyways, today I am sharing with you a photo diary from a shoot I did with Laudi Vidni.  You may remember I worked with Laudi Vidni in the winter, see the shoot here, so I was excited to work with them again on their spring collection.

Dad Shoes: Your New 24/7 Shoe

Hey Merbabes!  My favorite style of shoe for over a year now has been the "dad shoe".   You know the shoe I am talking about.  They are easily recognizable with their thick sole, sensible color palette, and a hint of tech-nerd chic.  It is no coincidence that some of the most successful people are all known to rock the "dad shoe".  Steve Jobs rocked New Balances, the CEO of Zappos named Asics his shoe of choice.  They are power shoes, made for powerful people, like us, Merbabes.

Babes in Boston: A Mini Restaurant Guide

Hey Merbabes! Last weekend I snuck off to Boston to visit my one of my favorite people in the universe.  When I was 16,  I spent the summer at Boston Ballet, so I was quite excited to go back to this cute little city.  The majority of my time outside the ballet studio was split between eating ice cream and shopping at urban outfitters, what else would 16 year old Dani do?  That being said I was excited to rediscover Boston and see what else the city has to discover.

I had a blast with my girl and also had some seriously good eats!  Aubrey and I are both vegetarian, as well as Aubrey being gluten free and myself being dairy-free (like 95% of the time).  We have a lot of restrictions between us but we both love to eat.  Dietary restrictions really don't feel like a restriction when you know the right places to go, so I am excited to share these finds with you.

Rolling with the Homies: Salty Mermaid Swimwear

Hey Merbabes!  This Saturday's weather was what dreams are made of, so I did what any merbabe would; I threw on my favorite swimsuit, roller skates, and went to the beach.  You may recall I rocked my Salty Mermaid Suit all the way back in February, which was the last time it was warm enough to swap out my parka for a bikini.  The second I saw this weekends forecast I was ready to rock Salty Mermaid bikini #2.

Keep reading for the complete photo diary with Salty Mermaid Swimwear.

Moody Thoughts and Timeless Silhouettes

Hey Merbabes!  How is your week going so far?  Mine is fa-lying by.  Throughout my school years all I ever wanted was the weeks to go as quick as possible, but now the end of the week just means there are still things on my todo list that didn't get touched.  I am a seriously productive person and have a killer work ethic, but even I have to face the facts that sometimes we can't do it all.  I blame it on ballet, I blame everything on ballet TBH, but I have a seriously hard time saying "no".  If someone asks me to do something I will always say yes; I will cover that extra shift, get the post in before the deadline, and I'll always eat the last slice of pizza.  I do love going above and beyond, duh, but often I do it because I never allow myself to say no.  Yesterday I said "no" to a very small task but I can't stop thinking about it,  I am so proud of myself.  That was a huge deal for me to allow myself to acknowledge that I am not only not the best person for the job but also that it wasn't something I wanted to be doing.

How I Simplified My Skincare Routine for Less Breakouts

Hey Merbabes!  Skin update #307 here, JK but honestly I think I am finally on to something that works.  I probably shouldn't be posting about it this soon because my skin is finally calming down and staying calm.  I don't want to jinx it, but I like sharing with you too much to keep this a secret.  As I always say all skin is different and this may not be the routine for you but if you are experiencing the acne troubles I am, you are probably willing to try literally anything.  For almost a month now I have been doing this routine religiously, yes every single day, and guess what? I have not had a breakout since.  That is crazy to me, but honestly I have probably had four new pimples over the entire month, which was what I used to wake up to daily.

Creating a Personal and Authentic Brand on Instagram: The 5 Step Guide That Doesn't Suck

Hey Merbabes! Today I am talking Instagram.  Instagram is honestly my favorite thing to talk about, so lets jump right in.  I have long struggled with Instagram simply because I feel like I know too much.  I get Instagram, I understand how to grow numbers, authentically engage with followers, all while getting hundred "likes" in minutes.   I am not telling you this to say "I am smart, listen to me", but because I have done tons of research on Instagram and honestly I am not impressed.

As a young Generation Z chick I truly believe I rule the world of social media, and know more than anyone older than me.  What 19 year old doesn't?  Instagram is ingrained in my genetic makeup, I was snapping photos for Instagram and writing witty captions while my brain was still in its crucial stages of development.  So yes, I believe I have a better knowledge of Instagram than literally any 30 year old, or even a 23 year old.
