New Year Improved Me: My Personal and Professional Goals for 2017

Hey Mer-babes! We made it through 2016, what a year! Personally it has been the best year of my life.  I graduated high school, and have been able to transition into doing the things I love full-time, instead of as a hobby.  In the few short months I have been full-time living my own life I have done more amazing projects than I have my entire life.  Not being tied down to a schedule has been really difficult for me, I loved hearing that bell ring every 45 minutes and knowing it was time to switch classes, but I am loving the challenge.  It forces me to find time for the things that are important to me, such as getting in to that early Soul Cycle class, or taking time out of my day time for morning ballet.  I also got to travel and see some new places, some that I loved and some that I didn't love, both being equally important.  My blog has grown faster in the past four months than in its three year existence and I couldn't be more proud of myself.

Happy happy 2017 my loves and may it be the brightest yet! Keep reading for my personal and professional goals for 2017, and the hottest posts of 2016.

Although I don't have exciting New Years Plans that wasn't stopping me from bringing the sparkle to brunch this morning.  I am wearing a Zara t-shirt dress (shop similar), I am obsessed with the "No Glitter No Party" saying.  I love a good sassy graphic tee and this tee-shirt dress is definitely the right way to rock a sassy saying.  These over the knee boots (shop here) are perfect for dancing the night away while staying cute.  A white faux fur jacket (shop similar) and oversized star earrings (shop here) gave the look the perfect dose of New Years Eve glam.

Read More - I am always on my computer.  I can’t help it, it’s my office, and I love being productive.  When you work from your laptop/phone it is hard to justify a technological detox.    In the New Year I am excited to take productive detoxes with a good book.  I’m not talking The Hunger Games, but books about business, branding, and being a boss.  Please share some good recommendations in the comments!

Expand Horizons - In the New Year I am looking to broaden my horizons professionally.  I hope to do more social media consulting and management along with things like personal shopping, and creative consulting.  For Mermaid Waves I am excited to expand upon my content with video diaries along with new verticals like fitness!  I can not wait to work on many more collaborations and bring you the most exciting content out there.

Treat Yourself - I love treating myself.  In the New Year I am looking forward to finding new ways to treat myself in a healthy and productive way.  Like finding a new favorite workout (Soul Cycle will probably always take first place but thats not stopping me from trying), or a new favorite face mask.

Take a Chill Pill - I am the opposite of chill. In 2017, I am hoping to relax more by simply choosing to.  I am going to choose not to let little things bother me, choose to laugh at silly mistakes instead of cry over them, and choose to let me self have a day off once in a while and feel no guilt!
